The bamboo used for our straws is harvested from rural farms in Vietnam, it is not cut from natural forests so it doesn’t harm the habitats of pandas or any other wild animals. Plus, most of the pandas in Vietnam are protected in national forests, or at least there are no pandas or any wild animals in the area that we grow the bamboo trees so you don't need to worry about harming any of them.
The bamboo from the farms are grown organically without any pesticides. After harvesting, the bamboo is left to dry in the sun until it can be cut to length and hand-polished with sand. All our straws are hand-made with the exception of some tools to help cut the bamboo and remove any rough parts. There are no chemicals used in the whole process of making the straws.
The bamboo used for our toothbrushes is organic MOSO Bamboo grown in the Zhejiang Province in China. MOSO bamboo is completely Panda friendly as it is not recognized as a food source by Pandas. Also, Pandas lives in the mountains which is far away from where we get our bamboo.
After harvesting, the bamboo is heat treated to carbonize the surface which gives it a quality finish. This process also makes the handles water resistant and prevents the growth of any bacteria and mold.
